The Defence Academy of the United Kingdom at Shrivenham is hosting the annual CBRN Symposium. The theme will be “The Need for Innovation: how the CBRN Sector can contribute to and benefit from it”.
The Symposium will address innovation in both processes and technology. The UK Government’s approach to innovation will be considered as will how the CBRN Sector can contribute to it and benefit from it. International speakers from USA, Canada, Australia as well as from NATO, EU and other European nations will be invited to share their views on innovation and to debate how closer cooperation might aid innovation.
From IB Consultancy Freek-Jan Toevank en Mathijs van de Waardt will present the CATCH (CBRNe Advanced Training Curriculum The Hague) project.
Presentation outline:
The EU CBRN Action Plan calls for improvements in Training and Education of people involved in preparations for and dealing with CBRNe incidents. The CATCH project responds to this requirement by developing a standardised European Education and Training Curriculum. This is done with a consortium consisting of SMEs, standardisation bodies, and International Organisations like the OPCW. CATCH will develop a framework for identifying required CBRNe capabilities with their respective Education and Training Objectives. This framework will be put forward as a European Standard in the shape of a CEN Technical Specification. Next to the curriculum framework, CATCH will develop several courses to obtain Education and Training Objectives as defined within the framework. These courses range from introductory E-Learning modules, Executive Courses for policy makers and decision makers, (augmented reality) Simulation modules for First Responders and Live Agent Training courses. Other organisations will be invited to have their courses certified by and linked to the CATCH curriculum. The presentation will describe the CATCH curriculum framework and go into more detail on the structure and content of the introductory E-Learning modules.
