The first CBRNe Executive Roundtable is scheduled to become an annual event. It aims to discuss the rapidly changing face of the CBRNe world, where new threats – by state and non-state actors – pose challenges for responders, industry and policymakers alike. Al-Qaeda’s quest for WMDs or ICDs (improvised chemical devices) – similar to the planned use of Al-Mobtaqar in New York in 2005 – constitutes a serious threat. The development of nuclear weapons by Iran and the alleged Stuxnet cyberattack against this programme pose different but complicated challenges. The EU CBRN Action Plan to combat these challenges will have a huge impact on national policies, response capabilities and requirements for equipment within the European Union. Likewise, the UN Security Council Resolution 1540 precisely defines the requirements the member states have to meet to counter the threat of WMD terrorism.
Faced by today’s and tomorrow’s CBRNe threats it is imperative for all stakeholders to interact, exchange ideas and learn from each other. Sharing our knowledge and expertise with our extended network, the CBRNe community and society as a whole is one of our core values. That is why IB Consultancy offers a platform to interact at the executive level. By inviting executives from the government, the industry and international organisations, IB Consultancy facilitates the interaction between peers from different backgrounds and different responsibilities.
